Kaze no Regret

Unlike the official soundtrack of the game D2 (D no Shokutaku 2), the album D no Shokutaku 2: Image Album “Scenes” offers a unique and immersive experience. From this album, the full track “Rhythm Sketch” has been selected — a representation of Kenji Eno’s D2 sound, as he personally described it: “comfortable and true to his sensibilities.” In addition, we’ve handpicked piano-focused pieces from the same album — ones that Eno particularly cherished.

This record also includes two deepcut songs from WARP’s 3DO game released in 1995, Oyaji Hunter Mahjong. The music was composed by Kenji Eno, with lyrics and vocals by Rumi Shishido, who was already active as an idol at the time and known for her voice acting work, including the role of Onpu Segawa in Ojamajo Doremi. Kenji Eno’s wife, Yuka who produced this album, is especially fond of the Bossa Nova Mix with its upbeat rhythm and tempo. 

The record ends with Ruroi of Mount Rokugaku, a song from the unique game for the Sega Saturn, Real Sound : Kaze no Regret, that boldly stripped away visuals almost entirely, relying solely on sound, music, and a voice to tell its story. It was designed specifically to be accessible to blind and visually impaired players — a revolutionary concept at the time, and still rare today. This track plays in a scene where the protagonist visits a store and hears another customer singing karaoke. Lyrics by Kenji Eno, music by Keiichi Suzuki.

The first four tracks on this record were composed by Kenji Eno for a special event held at Shibuya PARCO to commemorate the release of the game ENEMY ZERO. A CD featuring all seven tracks was produced and distributed exclusively to attendees of the event. As a non-commercial release, it has become a rare collector’s item. This set includes four of the seven tracks.

Always the maverick, the following tracks represent the range of mediums Kenji Eno developed games for; You, Me, and the Cubes, one-dot enemies, and newtonica. Two songs, On Top of the Solid Object and Me and the Boundary, are from You, Me, and the Cubes, a WiiWare title co-developed and published by Nintendo. One-dot enemies from the game with the same title, is background music from the iPhone app game developed by Kenji Eno and Mr. Aoki from STUDIO-KURA. Ending with two songs newtonica and spheres from the iPhone/iPod app newtonica. Following the release, Kenji Eno frequently performed these tracks live. All music composed by Kenji Eno.

This record comprises various tracks that Kenji Eno composed over the years. 

1. Walk a Mile

The exact production date of this track is unknown. On September 6, 2012, Kenji Eno updated his Twitter (now known as “X”) with the comment “I’m back♪ Walk a Mile”, along with a URL linking to a video of the song.

2. Night Tweet

During the time when Kenji Eno was handling brand and marketing for Twitter (now “X”), he composed this piece for an event that was being organized in Japan. It was created specifically for that occasion after the realization: “We need background music for the event!”

3. redcross

In July 2010, Kenji Eno fell ill during a meal and was rushed to the hospital by ambulance. After spending several days in the ICU, he regained consciousness and immediately composed this track on his computer from a private room in a different ward.

Eno described the song as: “A piece that evokes the image of an ambulance racing through the city toward the hospital.”

He even designed a jacket cover for the track using a photo of the city he captured from the window of his hospital room.

These tracks were composed for a certain project. A total of three songs were recorded on a CD dated June 16, 2006, and have been kept at Eno’s home ever since — completely unreleased tracks until now.

The last three records are a combination of original arrangements by Kenji Eno and cover songs performed by his band, NORWAY. 

A deep admirer of YMO (Yellow Magic Orchestera) and Ryuichi Sakamoto, the first 10 cover songs are heartfelt tributes to their work. In his autobiography “Game”, Eno described their music as:

“The greatest shock of my life!”

“Without a doubt, their work sits at the top of the list of things that influenced my life.”

Each arrangement is filled with reverence and affection for the original compositions.

Followed by Real Real Real, an original techno track by Yuya Asaoka, vocalist of FIELD OF VIEW, remixed by Kenji Eno. Yuya Asaoka is also a member of Kenji Eno’s cover band, NORWAY. The remaining album consists of 10 cover songs performed by NORWAY and previously available only on YouTube.

River of Hope (希望の河)

A rare demo track created during the experimental phase before the formation of the band NORWAY. At this point, HISASHI (of GLAY) had not yet joined the group.

Kimi ni, Munekyun. (君に、胸キュン。)

Shortly after this track was produced, NORWAY was officially formed. This became NORWAY’s first publicly released song, launched on May 5th, which is Kenji Eno’s birthday.

Glorious (グロリアス)

A well-known signature song of GLAY. With HISASHI playing guitar on this NORWAY version, Kenji Eno was delighted, saying it felt like “a new kind of collaboration with the original artist himself.”

Born Slippy .NUXX

A track suggested by HISASHI, this marked NORWAY’s first Western cover. The production process carried a palpable sense of tension due to its iconic status.

SAY YES

A beloved ballad reimagined in NORWAY’s uniquely beautiful style, aiming to capture the band’s distinct emotional expression.

Never Ending Story

Recorded in a hotel suite, this track was completed in just 12 hours and live-streamed upon release.

Kenji Eno personally invited singer Miu Sakamoto (daughter of Ryuichi Sakamoto) to join the recording.

Monkey Magic

Created under the slogan “Showa-era pop meets techno”, this track is rich with Kenji Eno’s signature synthesizer sounds.

Ruby no Yubiwa (ルビーの指環)

A rare track that features a synthesizer solo by Kenji Eno.

Riverside Hotel

A beautiful and powerful blend of NORWAY’s unique arrangement style and the bold individuality of each band member.

Komm, süsser Tod

Both Kenji Eno and HISASHI were fans of the Evangelion film series. This iconic theme song was chosen as a piece that could reflect NORWAY’s identity. Kenji Eno began by recording the piano part, with plans for the rest of the band to follow. Tragically, this would become the last track Kenji Eno worked on with NORWAY before his passing.
