For 16 years, survival horror has been gripped by the events which unfolded upon the USG Ishimura — the derelict setting of EA Redwood Shores’ iconic Dead Space. From its first entry to its transcendent remake, the sprawling universe of Dead Space has captivated players and raised the bar for its genre more than once, becoming a transmedia franchise in the process. But the series has also stumbled; taken wrong turns.

In Make Us Whole: The History of Dead Space, author Elijah Beahm explores the vast reaches of the Dead Space universe, cataloguing every masterpiece, misstep, and oddity across the series from its video games and movies to its novels and comics. Make Us Whole: The History of Dead Space is the definitive, comprehensive book encapsulating every Dead Space project. Its 272 pages feature incisive prose, new and candid interviews with the franchise’s creators, and hands-on insight into pre-release game prototypes.

Evenson (Dead Space: Martyr and Catalyst, writer), Antony Johnston (Dead Space comics writer and game script consultant), Jimmy Palmiotti (Dead Space: Downfall, co-writer), Chuck Beaver (Game series, Narrative and Producer), Ben Wanat (Dead Space 1-2, Production Director; Dead Space 3, Creative Director), Eric Baptizat (Dead Space Remake, Game Director), and Roman Campos-Oriola (Dead Space Remake, Creative Director).

Signed Edition:

Make Us Whole: The History of Dead Space’s Signed Edition features a bookplate signed by Elijah Beahm as well as Chuck Beaver (Producer and Narrative across the Dead Space series). The Signed Edition also includes an A5 art card inspired by the sense of dread evoked by peering down a foreboding corridor aboard the USG Ishimura, illustrated by iconic Sebastián Piriz (Transformers, DC Comics, Star Wars). About the Illustrator:

Make Us Whole: The History of Dead Space features both a cover illustration and interior illustrations from Jonathan La Mantia. La Mantia's masterful work has previously graced album covers, film posters, and comic books — their uniquely chaotic and macabre style, dense with emotion and detail, perfectly captures the spirit of Dead Space’s perilous horror.

About the Author:

Elijah Beahm is a Minnesota transplant raised in the wild hills of rural Pennsylvania. He lives with his family, writing professionally in an office packed with dated electronics — that sometimes work! Elijah is an author, freelance journalist, and game design consultant. When not navigating the world of video games and entertainment, he is typically engaged in tabletop RPGs, working on fiction, reading, making terrible puns, and fixing up odds and ends around the house.
