Between 2003 and 2008, My Chemical Romance transformed from a scrappy New Jersey rock band into a cultural juggernaut, laying the foundation for one of the most enduring musical acts of the last 25 years.
And Justin Borucki captured it all.

Foreword by Eyeball Records founder Alex Saavedra
From early, messy hometown shows to the hallowed halls of Madison Square Garden; from glossy promos on the back of the triple-platinum album Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge to the backstages of venues around the country; from the living rooms and bedrooms of their childhood homes to the recording studios where they’d make timeless music, Borucki captured lightning in a bottle in the way only his photographs can. At times, chaotic and energetic, as if you’re there watching the band with the crowd. Sweaty, noisy, and raw. Other times: careful, composed, allowing us to really see the people behind the music.
For the first time, Justin’s work with My Chemical Romance is finally being collected into a single volume. Lost In Cult is proud to present On The Murder Scene: My Chemical Romance ‘03 - ’08. Pore over over Justin’s beautiful work and see his growth as a photographer, the band’s growth from hometown heroes to alternative legends, and the people and places behind the emo movement of the mid-2000s.
We’re also happy to feature a special foreword by Eyeball Records founder Alex Saavedra, who released My Chemical Romance’s first album in 2003, I Brought You My Love, You Brought Me Your Bullets, talking about what Justin’s work meant for both the band and the time.
Celebrate Justin’s incredible work with our Collector’s Edition. Designed by Callin Mackintosh, it features an exclusive hardback cover and comes housed in a beautiful, red clamshell box. Look inside, and you’ll find an exclusive photo print of the band early in their career, seated on the couch of Gerard and Mikey Way’s family home. The print comes housed in a hardback folder for safekeeping.
Collector’s Edition exclusive to our limited 60-day campaign and comes signed by Justin Borucki.
On The Murder Scene: My Chemical Romance ‘03 - ’08 is expected to ship in Q3 2027, but we have something a little extra planned for anyone buying this as a gift for a loved one (or themselves! We don’t judge). Between now and November 17, customers will have the option to receive a holiday card in the mail letting that special person know that something wonderful is on the way.
Opting to receive the holiday card will add a small extra charge of AMOUNT to your order.
Since the mid-'90s, Justin Borucki has photographed legendary acts like At The Drive-In, Chris Cornell, Metallica, and Coheed and Cambria. From shooting local bands at punk shows to collaborating with world-renowned celebrities and musicians, his portfolio boasts countless album covers and magazine features. But it’s his work with MCR that remains the most enduring.
Lost in Cult is incredibly honored to be working with Borucki on his first dedicated book, and proud to help finally collect this work into a single collection.
Alongside shooting some of the best bands in the world, Borucki also works in the wet plate collodion tintype process – a craft dating back to the 1850s. This awe-inspiring process involves sensitizing, exposing, and developing metal or glass plates on the spot, merging artistic creation with scientific precision. Today, Justin seamlessly blends his commercial assignments with his passion for wet plate photography, occasionally merging the two worlds.
Through our new imprint “Post Culture”, Lost In Cult is expanding beyond games into the worlds of film, music, and more. With a specific emphasis on physical creative ephemera, we’re working directly with creatives to open their archives and present the behind-the-scenes stories of beloved classics in new and unique ways.
